Early Saturday morning. Six inches of fresh snow fell on Friday. More coming. Temperature just below freezing. New skis. All-day lift tickets. Cooler with a crazy ridiculous amount of bratwurst, buns, bell peppers, chips and salsa, carrots, chex mix, and oreos. 14 year old brother that loves to ski. A dad that loves to ski. A mini van with tire chains. Good parking spot. Ski for four hours. Grill bratwurst. Eat. Devour salsa and chips. Crunch peppers. Munch oreos. Ski for two more hours. Come back and take a nap while bro and dad try a hard run. Wake up. Dad and bro aren't back yet. Eat more oreos. Eat some salsa and chips. Dad and bro are back. Ski some more. Come back and pack up stuff. Take a few more runs before the lifts close. Haul stuff and skis to the van. The sun has gone down. Scrape the windows. Take a longing look back at the hill. Listen to Prairie Home Companion on the drive back. Eat the chex mix. Mom has dinner ready. Eat again. Sleep.
Yup, perfect.
